U.S. Book Launch

The author held a private book launch in Hanover, Minnesota on September 20, 2008 for those Americans interviewed for her book coinciding with her September 15, 2008 U.S. book release.


Washington, DC book promotion - January 2009

On January 8, 2009, Mary, accompanied by her husband, Bob Miller, presented a copy of her book to Minnesota's US Representative Keith Ellison at his Washington, D.C. office.

Also while in Washington, Mary met with Her Excellency Houda Nonoo, Bahrain's new ambassador to the United States, where they discussed bilateral issues related to cultural awareness among American Christians and Bahraini Arabs and  Culturally Speaking's message.

Dr. Sam Zakhem, former U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain, and Mary Coons. Dr. Zakhem wrote the  Forward for Culturally Speaking .





Book Awards

Culturally Speaking was named as a finalist in the 2008 National Best Books Awards in the Non-Fiction, Multi-Culture category in October 2008. In May 2009, the book was named one of three silver finalists in the Culture category of the Midwest Book Awards, sponsored by the Midwest Independent Publishers Association.
