Mary Coons is the author of Safe From the Outside World: A Social History of Hanover, Minnesota, and Planks of History: Stories of the Crow River and Bridge 92366, as well as more than a dozen privately commissioned family history books.
She has traveled extensively to the Kingdom of Bahrain since December 2005, and was immediately in awe of the Arab culture, religion, and people.
Coons is the founder and president of Pen & Ink Communications, a small business specializing in writing family stories/life histories, along with business and travel writing. She is a former international editor of the Bahrain Traveler, and writes and edits a quarterly newsletter for the Hanover Historical Society of Minnesota.
A strong believer in giving back to her community, Mary helped found the Hanover Historical Society in 2003 and has been its Secretary since inception, dedicating thousands of volunteer hours to the organization.
